Bio

I write software. Some things about me:

  • I currently work at Vinci, a startup that specialises in using AI to enhance physics simulations. If you want to know more about what I do, check out my resume.

  • I have a BEng in Computer Science and Design from SUTD, and I’m currently pursuing a MS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.

  • I enjoy tinkering with my dev setup. I use split ortho keyboards, polish my neovim configs every now and then, distro-hop for fun, and have a tiny homelab. This website uses a font that I made!

  • I dabble in classical music. I have helped organise Wagner operas with the Orchestra of the Music Makers, high-fived Martha Argerich for sharing the same birthday, and automated backend processes for TwoSet Violin. I also occasionally play the viola in community orchestras, and practise piano duets with my wife.

  • I love gaming! I’ve sunk more than 4000 hours in Dota, religiously purchase every generation of Pokémon games, and consider BotW/TotK to be the best games ever.

Work

  • Vinci
    • Member of Technical Staff
      July 2026 - now

Vinci is building a foundation model for physics simulation.

  • Bifrost
    • Senior Software Engineer
      Jan 2022 - July 2026

Using simulations to train and test autonomous robots sounds like the obvious thing to do, but getting quality sim-to-real results is a genuine slog. Bifrost builds products that make it easy and accessible.

I led work across the stack: Manifold, a policy evaluation platform for benchmarking any robot control policy against any task, on any robot body; a paint-style app for authoring high-fidelity 3D environments, driving Houdini procedural generation under the hood and exporting simulation-ready USD; and a 3D asset management platform that runs the art team’s whole content pipeline, from storage and versioning to access control and review workflows.

Underneath it all, I stood up the platform: GPU-accelerated Windows containers on Kubernetes, plus the AWS, GitOps and observability stack it runs on. And in true startup fashion, I did plenty of the unglamorous stuff too: IT administration, the office network, subnet design, the connective tissue nobody notices until it breaks.

  • Motional
    • Site Reliability Engineer
      May 2020 - Jan 2022

Motional grew quickly and I was roped into a new SRE team.

I created a central monitoring stack, standardised observability practices across all engineering teams, and babysat several Kubernetes clusters and hundreds of AWS accounts.

    • Backend Engineer
      May 2018 - May 2020

Autonomous vehicles can be unruly, so the Fleet team created a Command Center to keep an eye on them. I was their first backend engineer, and grew it from a simple monitoring tool into a full fleet management platform.

It later became a key asset for our commercial ventures: I worked with engineers from Uber, Lyft, and Via to integrate our robotaxis into their networks.

  • Arup
    • Digital Consultant
      Sept 2017 - May 2018

Arup started an internal digital transformation movement, and employees with cool ideas were given budget and time to work on them. I helped many teams from the Consulting group turn their ideas into reality.

My favourite project involved modelling the ExperienceLab in VR to convince the MD that it would be worth the investment. Spoiler: it was.

Education

Volunteering

  • Singapore University of Technology and Design
    • ISTD Alumni Advisory Board Chair
      July 2024 - now

    • Alumni Association Founding Secretary
      Jan 2019 - Sept 2019

I assembled the founding committee and led the pilot fundraiser, which raised $100,000.

  • Orchestra of the Music Makers
    • Tech Lead
      Nov 2019 - now

I build tools to improve orchestra management workflows.

    • Board Member
      Nov 2020 - Oct 2023

I supported administrative and concert operations.

  • The Philharmonic Orchestra
    • Orchestra Management
      Sept 2018 - Nov 2019

I recruited a new management committee and led several projects.
